Haying the Fields

My neighbors are haying the fields today. There's something about this summer ritual that puts a peaceful spell on me. The sound of tractors buzzing about and the smell of sweet grass makes summer come alive. I want to go outside and take in the big blue sky. I want to go to the brook and catch frogs. I want to lay in my hammock and daydream.

The funny thing is all their hard work and ambitious toil is making me very lazy. All I want to do is indulge in sleepy summertime fantasies.

Indulge away...there's nothing more delightful than an afternoon summer nap under a big ol' shade tree.

Oh...the haying! I love serene looking, so fresh...just peace to me (being one thta never lifted a finger to actually DO it...just press the shutter button)

We were in Kansas this time last year...and I couldn't get enough of the gently rolling hills and the huge rolls of hay.

Enjoy your sleepy views!

They're scrambling now because it's going to rain in few hours. My husband went over to help hours ago and he's still not back. They'll be tired tomorrow.

I've always been enamored of those round bales of hay. You captured them beautifully!

Go for it, the hay looks soft.

Well I hope for hammock moments for you too and take in the big blue sky.

Oh that would be nice to put a big quilt in the hay field and have some ice cold tea and enjoy? Oh yes, you did say something about tractors in the field didn't you. That might not be a pretty outcome for me! Tee hee hee!

Ok..can I just pull up a chair and bring ice-tea?

Happy Day to you!

I live in Davis, CA and I chose my next apartment because it faces a big field. I feel the same relaxation while watching farmwork.

Great blog!

Oh my gosh, everyone is cutting around here also & i love the smell too. Hard work is right!
You know what else i love is the sound of a whirling sprinkler. The sound puts me in the mood for a summertime nap in the hot afternoon.
Farmhouse Wares always adds such a fresh look & feel to the season.
Thank you so much!
