Skating Away

Happy Friday! I hope you do something this weekend that makes you feel like a kid. Recently, my dad sent me a box full of old sports gear (He must have been cleaning out his garage). I found a pair of my old skates. Inscribed in marker on the inside is "Betsy + Andy Gibb." My daughter actually noticed it first. She looked a little mad, as though I were betraying her Dad with this past love of mine. The skates fit her like a glove, and it made my heart smile to watch her skating around in them. Hmmm.... I've got to get a new pair so I can skate with her. This time I'll write, "Betsy + Tom 4ever."

That's so cute! Our creek is frozen and I'm tempted to venture in to the abyss known as our garage to try and find mine. I don't think they say anything nearly as exciting inside them though!

Love your shop and your blog!

What a great idea! - "do something this weekend that makes you feel like a kid". I think I'm too serious sometimes. My girls would love it if I kicked back a did something out of the ordinary. So, I think I will!
Thanks for reminding me to play!

I've been dying to try snow-shoeing and/or cross country skiing...but not sure if my uncoordinated self could pull either off!

Too funny! I grew up skating in the rink that the park dist. maintained in the large field behind my parents house...I took it for granted how nice it was just to pop over there whenever I wanted...now I'd love for my daughter to learn to skate and it's such an ordeal to find a place to go!

BTW, I LOVE my mercury glass cake stand!! And the little one my sister got for me for Christmas too!

There you go again....posting about "puppy love" and the sweet days of your youth. I just love those stories that you tell & I remember them! The whole Carly Simon car ride, fishing with your dad, etc. You do know how lucky you are that your dad & mom i'm sure, saved those skates.
