Making Salt Dough Ornaments
Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup table salt
- 1 ½ cups warm water
Combine your flour and salt in a large bowl. Slowly add the warm water, mixing together, until it becomes too hard to stir. Then use your hands to knead the dough. Knead until soft, like the consistency of playdough.
Take 3/4 of the dough and press into our Stoneware Shortbread Pan to create the embossed design. Gently peel out of pan and cut them into separate pieces using the pan's embossed lines as your guide. Use a straw end to create a hole for ribbon or twine.
Transfer to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour. Once cooled, you can paint them or leave them natural for a primitive look. Finish with a fine coating of Polyurethane Spray to preserve.
You can find the Measuring Cups and the Stoneware Shortbread Pans at Farmhouse Wares.
