Chicken Report {no. 3}

Yahoo! Hooray! Today was the day! We have our first egg! I can't tell you how giddy this makes me. Our daughter came running in the house before school to tell us the news. My husband and I just smiled at each other with that look that says, "it doesn't get any better than this." It's these little moments in time that will leave the biggest impressions--on us and our daughter. Life is good. Happy Friday!

Oh, how wonderful! There's nothing sweeter than a little brown egg from your own little hen!

The neighbors down the street from us have about 34 hens (and one rooster, one turkey, two geese, and a gaggle of ducks - all pets). We are the blessed recipients of LOTS of fresh eggs, brought to us by the family's two precious little girls (one in grammar school and one not quite in school yet). They pull their red wagon up to our front door and give us the eggs. It's soooooo cute! The eggs they bring are white, brown, blue, tan, green, aqua - so beautiful altogether. The duck eggs always look scuffed, and we always know when there's goose eggs in the bunch because the carton lids won't close. The goose eggs are comical!

Oh, that is the good stuff of life!

Carey, that story is adorable. Perhaps I'll pull out the old radio flyer for my daughter's future deliveries.

I am totally feeling you! I was THRILLED with our first eggs a few weeks back. Now? What the heck am I going to do with all these eggs? Seriously. 10 in 3 days? Oh Lord. Guess I'll be figuring out how to freeze them for baking! LOL!

Congratulations!

YEAH!! Your patience paid off.

I just got my first tomatoes from my garden this week. Now that's patience. I watered and tended to them all summer and in September they finally came:)
