Ornamental Oregano

This time of year, when the garden beds are mainly winding down and new blooms will have to wait till spring, I get my flower fix by turning to the dried varieties. Lavender tends to be a favorite, and let's face it, Lavender gets a lot of attention from the press, but one plant that's often overlooked is Ornamental Oregano. The soft pink flowers against the wheat colored stems creates a gentle bouquet that's perfect for filling farmhouse baskets with pure country style. I've collected a few big bundles for my Thanksgiving decor. Here I've added sprigs to dress my napkins, which I've tied with a little bakers string. It's a nice change from dried wheat or lavender. Ornamental Oregano makes a gorgeous border plant and is easy to grow. It will certainly capture your attention--all year long.
